Sonu Sood, known for his activism and philanthropy, often uses his social media to address pressing socio-political matters. Recently, he made a heartfelt plea on Twitter urging Indians to assist those trapped in Bangladesh. This call for action follows Bangladesh leader Sheikh Hasina’s dramatic escape from the country in a military plane amidst escalating violence.
Sonu tweeted a video featuring an Indian woman voicing her distress and talking about the danger faced by Indians in Bangladesh at the moment. In her heartfelt message, she also expressed her longing to return to India. Sonu captioned it, “We should do our best to bring back all our fellow Indians from Bangladesh, so they get a good life here. This is not just the responsibility of our Government which is doing its best but also all of us. Jai Hind.”
On August 5, Sonam Kapoor voiced her alarm over the increasing death toll in Bangladesh. She shared an Instagram story and wrote, “This is horrible. Let’s all pray for Bangladeshi people.”
The situation in Bangladesh right now:
Bangladesh home minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Monday confirmed that the nation’s embattled Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fled Dhaka and the army will temporarily take control of the governance of the nation. Speaking exclusively to CNN-News18, Khan said: “Sheikh Hasina has resigned. I have received the information that she has resigned”. When asked if the army would temporarily take over the government, he said: “Yes, most probably the Army will take over”.
Hasina, who has ruled since 2009, had defied weeks of demands for her to stand down but fled following a brutal day of unrest on Sunday in which nearly 100 people died. She the country by helicopter after protesters had stormed Ganabhaban, the prime ministerial residence, in Dhaka. Hasina landed at the Hindon airbase in Ghaziabad, near New Delhi, on Monday.
