Sushmita Sen recently took to Instagram to commemorate 30 years since her historic win at the Miss Universe pageant. Sushmita Sen became the first Indian to win the Miss Universe title on May 21, 1994. The Bollywood icon shared a nostalgic throwback photo capturing a poignant moment from three decades ago when she was just 18 years old.
In her Instagram post, Sushmita Sen recalled how meeting a kid from an orphanage changed her life. In the picture, Sushmita was holding a toddler in her arms while smiling at her. She looked stunning in a white outfit with her Miss Universe sash.

She further expressed, “To all my fans, friends, family & well-wishers around the world…know that each one of you has made a difference in my life and inspired me in ways you may never know!! I feel the love! Thank you! What an Honour. Here’s to the next 30 years. I love you guys.”
As soon as she shared the photo, fans and followers flooded the comment section with love and compliments. One user wrote, “If ‘living life on your terms with dignity’ had a face,” while another fan wrote, “You will always be etched in our memory as the most relatable Miss Universe.” After Sushmita Sen, Lara Dutta and Harnaaz Sandhu won the title.
On the professional front, Sushmita Sen’s most recent project was the web series Aarya. Created by Ram Madhvani and Sandeep Modi, the plot revolves around Aarya (Played by Sushmita Sen), whose world suddenly turns upside down. The series also features Vikas Kumar, Angad Khan, Sikandar Khan, Vishwajeet Pradhan, Maya Sarao and more.
