Taapsee Pannu Raises Concern For Women Safety On Pink's 8th Anniversary: 'We Are Still Amidst The Battle'
Taapsee Pannu's concern comes at a time when two incidents have jolted the nation - the brutal rape and murder case of a Kolkata doctor and the shocking findings of the Justice Hema Committee report.

Taapsee Pannu is one actress who has always made waves with her compelling performances on screen and has carved a niche for herself in mainstream cinema. While she has delivered many remarkable and impactful characters in her films, her brilliant portrayal of a girl who is a victim of molestation in Pink is undoubtedly one of the most special. The actress not only did justice to her character but also highlighted the significant issue of women’s safety and security. Although it has been 8 years since the film’s release, it remains special for its subject and Taapsee’s powerful performance.

However, on the 8th anniversary of Pink, Taapsee Pannu expressed concern for the current situation of women’s safety in the country as she revisited the film’s theme. “8 years ago we never knew this small film of ours would find such a big place in the notable films of our country and 8 years after that we can’t believe that we are still amidst the battle and struggle of security of women and their consent. What bittersweet emotion it is for someone who is proud to be a part of this film,” she said.

Earlier today, actress Shefali Shah was also speaking at News18’s She Shakti event in New Delhi when she also shared that she feels ‘helpless and hopeless’ whenever she reads about brutality against women in our society.

“I just feel helpless and hopeless. I don’t even know what to make of it. I am not even angry anymore, which is worse. When you are feeling something at least there is some kind of emotion but I just feel, ‘How do you correct this?’ I might sound very pessimistic but I don’t really know if we can completely eradicate this kind of toxicity from our country or this world,” Shefali said.
