Lyricist Rajendra krishan helped him and he got a job as a helper with the director HS Rawail on a salary of Rs 150.
After his arrival in Mumbai, Rajendra Kumar stayed in a guest house in Bombay. He used to get a cot to sleep on at a very low price. It is believed that stars like Dharmendra and Raj Kumar took shelter in this guest house during their struggling period.
Rajendra Kumar’s breakthrough came with the ironic film Mother India in 1957. The role he played in the movie, Nargis’ son, brought him recognition in his career. During 1959, he also received his major breakthrough as a romantic hero with the film Goonj Uthi Shehnai. His film, Vachan, also brought him recognition and he was well-liked by a lot of people. He worked in six back-to-back superhit films including Arzoo, Kanoon, Zindagi, Dil Ek mandir and so on.
