Upendra’s Fierce Look As Kaleesha From Rajinikanth’s Coolie Out
Upendra, last seen in the 2023 film Kabzaa (2023), will next be seen in the surrealist action thriller, UI.

Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, has been creating buzz since the project was announced. Viewers were eagerly waiting for more updates. Earlier, it was reported that Sathyaraj would be joining the cast. Now the makers have surprised the viewers and revealed that Kannada actor Upendra will play the role of Kaleesha in the upcoming action thriller and has released his character look, which is garnering everyone’s attention.

In the poster, Upendra is seen sporting an intense look as Kaleesha from the upcoming Rajinikanth starrer. Upendra is seen in all-black outfits, with red thread accessories and a black rosary. The actor-director, who sports his signature hairdo and a thick beard in the poster, is seen with a golden hook-like weapon in his hand. From the poster, it is assumed that Upendra will be seen playing a grey-shaded character in the film. Upendra himself has shared his look on his official X handle.

As per reports, Sathyaraj, who is also a part of Team Coolie, is said to play the character of Rajasekar. He will be seen sharing screen space with superstar Rajinikanth after the 1986 film Mr. Bharath. Upendra, last seen in the 2023 film Kabzaa (2023), will next be seen in the surrealist action thriller UI, which is also being directed by him.

Sathyaraj and Upendra join previously announced cast members like Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan and Soubin Shahir. Further details about their characters are yet to be revealed.

Coolie is backed by Kalanithi Maran under his Sun Pictures banner. The film went on floors this July. The music for the film is directed by Anirudh Ravichander, the cinematography is handled by Girish Gangadharan, editing is done by Philomin Raj and the stunts are performed by Anbariv.

Rajinikanth was last seen in the Tamil-language sports action film Lal Salaam. The film was directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth and produced by Subaskaran Allirajah under the banner of Lyca Productions. Apart from Rajinikanth, who was seen in an extended cameo role, the film also featured Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth as main protagonists, with an ensemble supporting cast including Vignesh, Livingston, Senthil, Jeevitha, K. S. Ravikumar and Thambi Ramaiah.
