According to an IMDb trivia, Daler Mehndi, who was heavily influenced by the Patiala Gharana style of music, ran away from home to get trained by the famous Ustad Raahat Ali Khan.

Daler Mehndi was born on August 18, 1967, in Patna. He grew up in a family of musicians and studied ragas and shabads among other genres of Indian classical music. It is estimated that his first album, Bolo Ta Ra Ra released in 1995, sold over 20 million copies. The record was a huge success.

The 53-year-old singer is known for several successful songs including Tunak Tunak Tun and Na Na Na Na Re. Apart from his albums, he has toured all over the world and has performed in the West Indies, Belgium, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Australia, United States, Spain, South Africa, East Africa, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Malaysia, Pakistan, Hong Kong and New Zealand.

On the other hand, the singer has owned his record label, DRecords, since 2000. The label has released songs by popular musicians like Safri Boys and Hussain Baksh. He has also provided voice for other popular songs from films like Prabhas’ Bahubali and Aamir Khan’s Dangal.
