Celebrated dance-director Bosco Martis, who is known for choreographing dance numbers like Kala Chashma, Jhoome Jo Pathaan, Chor Bazaari, and Senorita amongst others, has shared his concern over choreographers not getting credits in film’s promotional material like posters. The award-winning choreographer, who also choreographed the ‘Sher Khul Gaye’ from the upcoming film Fighter, took to Instagram to share his concern. In a lengthy post, he wrote, “It’s been 22 years we’ve been doing choreography and still find it a struggle to put our names on any promotional material of movies. Where the song and dance are celebrated by the nation and also worldwide.” He added, “Sometimes it’s so sad to say that nobody knows who has choreographed the song till we don’t push our names.”

Martis argued that choreographers deserve to have their name “mentioned on all promotional platforms, especially on posters, radio or other promotional material in relation to the song choreographed.” He tagged his industry colleagues and other famous choreographers like Vaibhavi Merchant, Remo D’Souza, Ganesh Acharya, Prabhu Deva, Ahmed Khan, and Ranju Varghese in the post.
Choreographer Rahul Shetty supported Martis and wrote, “Glad you spoke about it for the entire fraternity and for the future generations of choreographers… nothing can be more special than recognition for any artist for their craft… Thank you so much for putting it out there.. keep inspiring, love you.”
Dancer Ranju Varghese also lent his support and remarked, “This is truly a matter of concern and I have always been talking about this to the association, It’s high time that all the choreographers stand for the same together. I’m sure change will happen soon. Thank you for raising your voice for this.”
Bosco Martis often collaborates with his partner Caesar Gonsalves. The duo goes by “Bosco-Caesar”. Together they run the Bosco Caesar Dance Company in multiple cities.
The duo has won many distinguished awards. In 2010 they got the Filmfare Award and IIFA Award in the “Best Choreography” category for Chor Bazaari from Love Aaj Kal. In 2012, they won the National Film Award, IIFA Award, and IIFA Award for Señorita from Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. In 2020, they got the IIFA Award for Ghunghroo from War. This year they won the IIFA Award for choreographing the title track of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.
