Imran Khan recently revisited his 2009 film Luck.

Imran Khan recently revisited his film 2009 Luck and shared how ‘ashamed’ he felt after it flopped. Years later, many had come up to him and shared that they liked it. He shared that his outlook towards the film changed began with an Instagram post about the film as he wasn’t expecting to get that kind of a positive response.

While speaking with IFP, he shared, “You don’t understand how weird this is to me. When the film released, it was a disaster. They tarred and feathered me, they took me out back to shoot me behind the latrines for taking part in such a horrible film,” he said. Briefly checking himself, he continued, “To hear someone say ‘woohoo’ about the film is weird. I assume you’re not being facetious?”.

He further added, “It’s quite a journey to reshape your perspective on something like that, where to me, this was a horrible, shameful film, and I should be ashamed of it. But yet, someone says, ‘Hey, I like it, I enjoy it’. That’s remarkable, it makes me feel like that wasn’t time wasted.”

Looking back at his career with gratitude and revisting some of his best works, the actor added, that he was quite surprise to notice how progressive and actively non-toxic Jaane Tu and Break Ke Baad were.

In the same conversation, he was also asked why he decided to come back after so many years with his social media appearance. “All of this assumed that I’ve got a plan and I know what I’m doing. I don’t have a plan, I don’t really know what I’m doing. I’m just winging it,” he said about his Instagram journey, which has since inspired the the #LautAaoImran campaign among his fans.

Ever since actor Imran Khan has been active on social media, he has been getting huge attention. Fans have been demanding his comeback but the actor has not said anything about this. However, in his recent appearance at the IFP Festival, he opened up about making a comeback. “I don’t have a clear answer, but I am reading scripts and having creative conversation with filmmakers. So, hopefully, next year,” he told Instant Bollywood.

Despite early commercial success, Imran also faced setbacks when his films Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola and Katti Batti did not perform well. He did make a comeback as a director in 2018, helming the short film Mission Mars: Keep Walking India but did not pursue a career in direction thereafter.
