Mission Raniganj Box Office: Akshay Kumar's Film Stays Firm, Earns Rs 1.5 Cr On Day 5
It should be noted that Mission Raniganj was released with Thank You For Coming and Dono, both of which also failed to leave a mark at the box office.

Five days after its release, Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra’s Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue is now inching close to Rs 20 crore mark at the box office. As reported by the industry tracker Sacnilk, the Tinu Suresh Desai directorial earned Rs 1.5 crore on its fifth day. With this, the film’s total collection now stands at Rs 15.6 crore.

Released on October 6, Mission Raniganj opened at the box office with Rs 2.80 crore. It then earned Rs 4.80 crore and Rs 5 crore on days two and three respectively. The film then dropped to Rs 1.50 crore on day four.

It should be noted that Mission Raniganj was released with Thank You For Coming and Dono, both of which also failed to leave a mark at the box office. While Bhumi Pednekar’s film has earned Rs 5 crore in India so far, Dono is struggling to pass even the Rs 1 crore mark.

Recently, Akshay Kumar also opened up about Mission Raniganj’s underperformance at the box office and mentioned that despite everything, it is his ‘best film’. “I love the fact that I own it. ‘Mission Raniganj’ – the business of the film is not up to the mark. But I openly say, I have done many films. I’ve done 100-150 films, but ‘Mission Raniganj’ is my best film, and that’s a big statement to make. I’m talking about a film which has not done well, but this is my best film. I hope people come out to go and watch it in theatres. It is an honest film. It is a film which I’m very, very, very proud of,” he told India Today.

Akshay further argued that even though he can easily make films like Rowdy Rathore of Singh Is King, it is movies like Mission Raniganj or Padman which give him satisfaction

Mission Raniganj is inspired by a real-life incident and presents the heroic act of the late Shri Jaswant Singh Gill who led Bharat’s coal mine rescue mission. Singh (portrayed by Akshay Kumar) played a significant role in rescuing all the surviving miners trapped inside a flooded coal mine in Raniganj in November 1989 which is documented to be the world’s largest and successful rescue mission against all odds.
