Aamir Khan’s daughter Ira Khan got married to her long-time boyfriend Nupur Shikhare in an intimate ceremony on Wednesday night in Mumbai. The ceremony was attended by their close friends and family, followed by a reception at Taj Lands End in Mumbai. While this was their registered marriage, their wedding will take place on January 8 in Udaipur, followed by a grand reception in Mumbai with attendees including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Amitabh Bachchan to name a few.
The three-day lavish wedding will commence in Udaipur on January 6. The wedding will be attended by the couple’s families. After the wedding on January 8, there will be a grand reception held in Mumbai. This reception will take place on January 13 at NMACC.
According to India Today, the guest list for this reception includes big names such as Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, Amitabh Bachchan, Karan Johar, Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Rajkumar Hirani, Ashutosh Gowarikar, Juhi Chawla and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra among others.
The report also mentioned that the Ambani family has also been invited to the event. They were present at the reception on Wednesday as well. The invitations have also been extended to stars from the South film industry, the report mentions.
Ira Khan and Nupur Shikhare dated for over three years before they got married on January 3. The couple got engaged in September last year in Italy. Two months later, they hosted an intimate engagement party that was attended by family and close friends, including Imran Khan, Aamir’s ex-wives Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao and actor Fatima Sana Shaikh.
Aamir had excitedly announced the date of Ira’s wedding in a chat with News18 India. “Ira is getting married on January 3. The boy she has chosen is — waise toh pet name unka naam Popoye hai — he is trainer, he has arms like Popoye but his name is Nupur. He is a lovely boy,” he said, speaking about his son-in-law.
“When Ira was battling depression, he was with her. He is really someone who has stood by her and emotionally supported her. I am happy that she has selected a boy who… they are so happy together. They are very well connected, they really look after each other and care for each other,” he added.
