'Without Meg Lanning, Australia is…': Harmanpreet Kaur Talks About The Challenges Ahead of Test Match vs Australia
Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur is excited to play a Test match against mighty Australians and wants her team to carry confidence from the victory against England into this match.

India will take on the Australia women’s team in a one-off Test match at the Wankhede stadium, starting from 21st December, Thursday.

India is coming on the back of a comprehensive victory against England in the one-off Test recently. They thrashed the English team by 347 runs within 3 days at the DY Patil stadium in Navi Mumbai.

Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur said that she wants to carry the same momentum and confidence into the next Test against Australia.

““Excitement is the same. The way we played the first Test match, we want to carry the same energy in this test also. Really looking forward to play this Test as we all know how good a side Australia is and everybody wants to beat them. Everyone know their role and are pretty confident going into this Test,” said Kaur.

Australia will be without their former skipper Meg Lanning, who retired from International cricket a few weeks back. The Indian captain believes that the Australian team is still a very strong side even without the presence of their inspiring leader.

“Even without Meg, they still have a balanced side. Everyone in their team are experienced across formats. We can’t take them lightly even if Meg is not there. They have good batters, good bowlers and they have the best fielding unit right now. We just want to focus on ourselves and do what is required for the team,” said the Indian skipper.

Key Takeaways From England Test

Kaur is really proud of her team and the way they performed in the Test against England.

“The key takeaway from the England Test was that everyone in the team performed. You always look a good side when there is a team effort involved. Whoever was getting the opportunity was going in and doing the role for the team. That is something we want to do in this test too. Our experience from the last game is quite good and we just want to go with the same approach,” said Kaur.

Talking about the wicket and possible team combination for this Test, Kaur said she’ll wait till the evening to see the wicket and then take a call on the final playing XI.

“We’ll have a fair idea about the wicket in the evening and accordingly we’ll take a call. I already have 13 players in mind who can play but we’ll have a look at the wicket once again again. Right now it’s difficult to say who will play but everyone in the nets are preparing well,” said the Indian captain.

The Indian skipper also gave an update on the injured Shubha Satheesh, who made an impressive International debut against England a few days back. Unfortunately, Shubha fractured and dislocated her left ring finger during the match, which forced her to miss the second and third days of the Test.

“Our medical team is taking care of her. We’ll give an update on her as soon as possible,” said Kaur.
