'Explosion' Near Israeli Embassy in Delhi; Cops, Forensic Team On Spot
Deputy Ambassador of Israel to India, Ohad Nakash Kaynar said all our diplomats and workers are safe

The Delhi Police on Tuesday received a call about a blast near the Israel Embassy in the national capital. However, authorities have not found anything so far.

Delhi Police Crime Unit and forensics teams reached the Israel Embassy to conduct a probe. According to Delhi Fire Services officials, the call was received at 5.47 pm and was transferred from the PCR (police control room) of the Delhi Police.

Delhi Fire Services, Director, Atul Garg said, “So far nothing has been found at the location.”

Delhi Police said experts have examined the spot and lifted exhibits that may have evidentiary relevance, the same are being sent for forensic examination.

“Today at 5:53 pm, a PCR call was received conveying the information that a loud sound was heard from the back side of the Israel Embassy. Considering the sensitivity of the location and the mention of explosion-type sound, senior officers rushed to the location. In close follow-up, the dog squad, crime team and BDS team of Delhi Police reached the spot where the alleged sound of the explosion was reported to have been heard. The area was cordoned off and subjected to a thorough search,” Delhi Police said.

All Diplomats, Workers Are ‘Safe’: Israel Embassy

Meanwhile, Deputy Ambassador of Israel to India, Ohad Nakash Kaynar said, “This evening several minutes after 5, an explosion occurred in close proximity of the Embassy. All our diplomats and workers are safe. Our security teams are working in full cooperation with local Delhi security and they will investigate the matter further.”

Commenting on the suspected blast, Israel Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lior Haiat said, “This evening (India time), there was an explosion near the Israeli embassy in New Delhi (100 meters from the embassy).”

The spokesperson further said, “There were no casualties as a result of the explosion and peace to all the envoys and embassy workers. The circumstances of the incident are under investigation by the local authorities in full cooperation with the Israeli security forces.”

Earlier in 2021, a crude bomb went off near the embassy of Israel on Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Road.
