Former Cricketer Ambati Rayudu Joins YSRCP in Presence of Jagan Reddy

Former Indian cricketer Ambati Tirupati Rayudu joined the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) at the CM office in Vijayawada on Thursday.

Rayudu was inducted into the party in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy along with Deputy CM Narayana Swamy and MP Peddireddy Mithun Reddy.

Sharing the update on the microblogging site, X, YSRCP said, “Famous Indian cricketer Ambati Tirupati Rayudu joined the YSR Congress Party in the presence of Chief Minister Shri YS Jagan at the CM Camp office. Deputy CM Narayana Swamy and MP Peddireddy Mithun Reddy participated in this program.”

WHO IS AMBATI TIRUPATI RAYUDU

Following the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) season, Ambati Rayudu announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. In domestic cricket, he has also played for Hyderabad and Andhra Pradesh.

After being left out of the England squad for the 2019 World Cup, the former India One Day International (ODI) specialist announced his retirement from international cricket.

He formally declared his second stint in Andhra Pradesh politics about a month after declaring his retirement from cricket.

Rayudu has refuted rumours of contesting the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from the parliamentary seats of Guntur or Machilipatnam.

In 2013, Ambati Rayudu made his debut for the Indian national team. Throughout his 55 ODI matches, he averaged 47 and scored 1694 runs, made ten half-centuries and three centuries.

In the 2010 Indian Premier League, he debuted for the Mumbai Indians, following which in 2018 he signed with Chennai Super Kings. With the Mumbai Indians and the Chennai Super Kings, he won three IPL championships each. In his cricket career, Rayudu scored 4328 runs in 203 matches.
