Haris Rauf Not to Bowl Against India on Reserve Day, Pakistan Bowling Coach Morne Morkel Reveals Why

Pakistan received a massive blow against India on the reserve day as Haris Rauf will not be bowling on Monday, September 11 as a precautionary measure. Pakistan’s bowling coach Morne Morkel revealed that the pacer had a scan and he felt some inflammation on his oblique muscle, thus he won’t be bowling on the reserve day.
For the unversed, Rauf is the current leading wicket-taker in the Asia Cup 2023 with nine scalps to his name and Babar Azam will thus be forced to utilise other options to make up for the overs of Rauf.

The 29-year-old bowled five overs of his quota on Sunday, as he failed to add to his tally of wickets but the remaining five overs will have to be bowled by someone else on Monday.
After the start of play was delayed due to rain on the reserve day at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, the live-action finally got underway after a delay of two hours.
Speaking ahead of the restart, Morkel said, “He (Haris Rauf) started feeling his oblique muscle last night. He had a scan and it revealed some inflammation. With the World Cup round the corner, it is precautionary and we’ll have to use the other boys to fill the overs. About yesterday’s bowling, I felt that we weren’t on the money from the get-go, and that’s why we were hit for a few runs.”

Rauf had earlier picked up three wickets in the previous Group A clash against India getting Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, and Ishan Kishan with the latter scoring 82 to help India get to 266.
However, the pacer didn’t enjoy any success in the Super 4 clash as Rohit and Gill dominated the Pakistan pace attack on Sunday. The pair stitched together a stand of 121 runs after being invited to bat first by Babar.
Shadab Khan removed Indian captain Rohit on 56, while Shaheen tasted success by getting the wicket of Shubman Gill but other Pakistan bowlers didn’t have any success before rain played spoilsport on Sunday.
India resumed from 147/2 in Monday as Virat Kohli and KL Rahul looked to give the Men in Blue a similar steady start that Rohit and Gill did yesterday. Kohli and Rahul in fact stitched together a fifty partnership on the reserve day in 71 balls.
