A 20-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death at least 50 times by an 18-year-old accused in Delhi’s Bhagirathi Vihar on Wednesday night in a suspected case of deadly rivalry over a common woman friend.
The victim identified as Mahir alias Imran and the accused, Arman Khan found themselves engulfed in a love triangle with a woman on Instagram which led to the murder of Mahir, reported NDTV.
The victim, who worked at a flex printing shop in Delhi’s Paharganj befriended a 21-year-old woman on Instagram. The friendship between the two embroiled Arman, who was allegedly in a relationship with the woman.
Arman’s jealousy reached peak when he found the two on a video call. Enraged with the call, the accused confronted Mahir and accused him of interfering in their relationship. Khan snatched the woman’s phone and asked not to contact Mahir.
Under the false pretense of giving the woman’s phone back, Arman tricked Mahir into coming to Bhagirathi Vihar in a plan, said the report. Together with two other defendants, Faisal (21) and Sameer (19), the trio attacked Mahir, brutally stabbed him to death, and then left his body by the side of the road.
Upon receiving a distress call later that evening, the police discovered Mahir’s lifeless body lying on the road, suffering from multiple abdominal stab wounds. According to officials, a blood-stained knife was also found at the crime scene.
All three of the accused were located and apprehended by Delhi Police’s Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) in relation to the murder.
The police claim that Sameer is a junk dealer, Arman owns a general store, and Faisal fixes LCD televisions. The murder occurred in the Bhagirathi Vihar neighborhood, where all three of the defendants are from.
Khan is now in judicial custody and is considered to be a prime suspect in Mahir’s murder. Police believe that he stabbed Mahir at least 50 times.
