Reliance Foundation Founder and Chairperson Nita Ambani on Monday received the “Sports Leader of the Year – Female” award at the CII Scorecard 2023 event held in New Delhi. Reliance Foundation was also conferred with the “Best Corporate Promoting Sports in India” award at the event.
“I am humbled and honoured to accept the CII Sports Business Awards for “Sports Leader of the Year” and “Best Corporate Promoting Sports in India,” Nita Ambani said during the event.
“I firmly believe that sport is a great unifier, energizer, and equalizer. 2023 has truly been India’s year for sporting excellence. Our athletes made the nation proud on the global stage by winning laurels across multiple sports. And we brought the Olympic Movement back to India after 40 years, by hosting the 141st International Olympic Committee Session in Mumbai. At Reliance Foundation, we remain committed to providing world-class opportunities and support to India’s youth and making India a global sporting powerhouse,” she added.
Known for her contribution to encouraging sports, Nita Ambani is the first Indian woman on the International Olympic Committee and the first Indian on the board of trustees of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Ambani has an estimated net worth of $2.8 billion to $3 billion. She holds a commerce degree from Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics and heads the Reliance Foundation, which was launched in 2010 to build an inclusive India by working towards various social causes.
