As many as 39 players hit the jackpot at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 players auction in Dubai, bagging multimillion contracts on Thursday. Ace Australian pacer Mitchell Starc scripted history by getting sold to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for a record INR 24.75 crore while his teammate Pat Cummins was right behind him with a price tag of INR 20.40 crore, offered by the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

At the same time, a total of 35 uncapped players found buyers at the auction while 9 of them broke the bank with deals worth crores. Uttar Pradesh’s Sameer Rizvi was bought for INR 8.4 crore, becoming the most expensive uncapped player in IPL 2024. Apart from the 20-year-old batter, 8 others became Crorepati overnight.

Sameer Rizvi (CSK) – 8.4 crore

Sameer Rizwi, a right-hand batter from Meerut, was purchased by Chennai Super Kings for a whopping sum of INR 8.4 crore. His recent heroics in the inaugural edition of the UPT20 led to glory as he is set to flourish under the wings of legendary captain MS Dhoni.

Shahrukh Khan (GT) – 7.4 crore

After trusted finisher and a capable spin bowler, Shahrukh has proved his mettle while playing for the Punjab Kings. And bow, the Tamil Nadu cricketer is set to join the Gujarat Titans for Rs 7.4 crore. Shahrukh had a tough season in IPL 2023, scoring 156 runs at a strike rate of 165.95 in 14 matches. His misery continued in the domestic white-ball tournaments as well but he worked on his bowling as he ended as the highest wicket-taker for his team in the Tamil Nadu Premier League.

Kumar Kushagra (DC) – 7.2 crore

Delhi Capitals will have the services of wicketkeeper-batter Kumar Kushagra in IPL 2024. The Jharkhand cricketer hit the headlines last year when he belted 266 runs during a Ranji Trophy match for Jharkhand and thus became the youngest ever to score a 250 in the tournament. Kushagra has notched up 700 runs on a stellar average of 46.66 runs over his List A cricket career.

Shubham Dubey (RR) – 5.8 crore

Dubey and his family were on cloud nine when the Rajasthan Royals acquired him for a whopping INR 5.8 crore. The Vidarbha batter hogged the limelight in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy where he scored 221 runs in seven innings at a strike rate of 187.28.

Yash Dayal (RCB) – Rs 5 crore

This would be the most unexpected buy among the uncapped players. Dayal, who had a nightmarish last season with the Gujarat Titans, has been roped in by the RCB for 5 crore. Moving on from the five sixes hit by Rinku Singh, the left-arm pacer redeemed himself with decent performances in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy followed by the recently-concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023. He picked 7 wickets in as many games in the domestic tournament and bagged 9 wickets in 6 games in the One-Dayers.

Robin Minz (GT) – 3.6 crore

The first tribal cricketer from Jharkhand, Minz has been purchased by the Gujarat Titans for Rs 3.6 crore. Playing cricket since the age of 8, Minz is yet to make his first-class debut but have led Jharkhand in in U-19 and U-25 tournaments.

M Siddharth (LSG) – 2.4 crore

Another mystery spinner from Tamil Nadu, Siddharth has been bought by Lucknow Super Giants for IN 2.4 crore. The left-arm spinner has claimed 18 wickets in seven T20 matches while scalping three four-wicket hauls. Siddharth has 26 wickets in 17 List A matches and picked up 27 wickets in seven First Class matches.

Sushant Mishra (GT) – 2.2 crore

Another uncapped Indian cricketer who bagged a multimillion contract from Gujarat Titans is Sushant Mishra, who is also from Jharkhand. Relatively new in the domestic T20 circuit, Sushant has 7 wickets in the shortest format of the game and averages 21.42. Sushant has taken 20 wickets in FC cricket and has 15 scalps in List A cricket.

 Sumit Kumar (DC) – Rs 1 Crore

Haryana Sumit Kumar was roped in by Delhi Capitals for Rs 1 crore. He was the player of the match in the final and the player of the series for his all-round show in the final of the recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy. He scored 183 runs at a fabulous strike rate of 155.08 in seven innings and also picked up 18 wickets.
