'Tu Jabardasti Injured ho Raha Hai': Ashok Menaria Takes a Shot at Former Team After Vijay Hazare Triumph
Ashok Menaria left Rajasthan to join Haryana and in a sweet revenge led his new team to title win beating his former in the final.

Haryana captain Ashok Menaria fired shots at his former team Rajasthan after leading his new team to a maiden title triumph in the Vijay Hazare Trophy on Sunday.

Menaria left Rajasthan earlier this year to join Haryana, ending a 15-year association. He was part of their Ranji Trophy winning squads in 2010-11 and 2011-12.

The 33-year-old claims he wasn’t treated well by Rajasthan after he picked up an injury.

“Last year, I picked up a hamstring injury. I think they (Rajasthan Cricket) should’ve taken better care of me. Par mujhe bola gya ki tu jabardasti injured ho raha hai (But I was told that I was acting injured). I’d lost trust in myself and was feeling low, but Haryana Cricket backed me and invited me to play for them,” Menaria was quoted by The Indian Express as saying.

Menaria scored 70 as Haryana posted 287/8 in the final played at the Saurasthra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot on Sunday.

In response, Rajasthan were bowled out for 257 in 48 overs with Haryana clinching a 30-run win.

“It’s because of that trust we won this trophy today. Emotional moment. The way we have won, it’s unbelievable,” Menaria said of Haryana Cricket.

He then praised his team for its batting depth and wealth of bowling options.

“I think in India our team is maybe the only one that bats till number 11 and we have 6-7 bowling options. Our strategy has been to stitch partnerships in the middle overs and then hand it over to Tewatia and Sumit, who did the job today as well,” Menaria said.

“We’ve played a lot of games under pressure, so even with challenging conditions, we were used to getting across it. Rajasthan, I personally felt, were largely dependent on a few batters. I know all of their players well and it came in handy,” he added.
