The Gautam Buddh Nagar police have arrested four men for allegedly using unfair means during a recruitment examination for a government job in Uttar Pradesh, officials said Tuesday.

Three of them were held in Greater Noida while one was arrested in Noida after authorities of the local schools where the examination was held on Monday lodged complaints with the police, they said.

The examination for the post of Gram Vikas Adhikari (Village Development Officer) was conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC).

Additional DCP (Greater Noida) Ashok Kumar said two persons, who sat for the exam at the Oxford Green Public School in the Kasna police station area, were arrested.

One of them was using an electronic device during the exam while the other had appeared instead of the actual candidate. Exam centre officials approached the police with a complaint and action was taken against the accused, Singh said.

Those held have been identified as Ajay Kumar and Pawan Kumar, both natives of Mathura district, police said.

One more person identified as Sachin Kumar Sharma was arrested by officials of the Beta 2 police station from Jaypee International School in Sector Omega 2 for a similar offence, they said.

Additional DCP (Noida) Shakti Mohan Avasthy said one person was held from the Bhawani Shankar Intercollege in Sector 39 police station area on a charge of cheating during the UPSSSC examination on Sunday.

During the inspection, it was found that instead of candidate Ram Avtar a person identified as Naresh was writing the exam.

The school authorities caught him and informed the police after which an FIR was lodged and the accused arrested, Avasthy said.

The police said FIRs have been lodged against the accused in both cases under provisions of the Uttar Pradesh Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
