New Delhi: As the Aam Aadmi Party faces the wrath of the people for running a government in Delhi for just 49 days, party candidate from Bhopal, Rachna Dhingra, has said that the decision to resign could have been communicated well.
"I think the AAP could have done a better job on why they resigned. The party didn't stick to the government for power's sake. The party was formed out of a movement for Jan Lokpal Bill," said Dhingra
Earlier, former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had said that they could have consulted people before quitting. "I think we made a mistake on (the issue of) resignation. Resignation in principle was (however) right," Kejriwal had said.
Kejriwal and his cabinet quit on February 14 after failing to pass the Jan Lokpal Bill in the Delhi assembly.
Meanwhile, Dhingra also denied reports that a few AAP candidates withdrew from the Lok Sabha election race due to lack of support and no funding from party. "I was able to raise funds. I think people should not raise unrealistic expectation related to funds from a party which has just formed," Dhingra said.
When asked that AAP is seen as an urban-phenomenon, she said, "There are around 650 villages in my (Bhopal) constituencies and at least 80 per cent know about the newly formed party."
Dismissing any Narendra Modi wave in the country, she said that there is a distrust among the people. "People are tired and sick of the BJP and the Congress. They have been betrayed by both the parties."
Calling AAP an alternative to both the BJP and the Congress, Dhingra said, "There is wave of change. AAP has come as a light." She added, "As Delhi surprised during assembly election, Bhopal may surprise the media."
"When people recognise us as AAP during our campaigns there is smile on their face. I think no party receives such welcome." Bhopal voted on April 17.
Dhingra said that if results are in her favour, she will ensure justice to Bhopal gas victims and dignified life to people. She said education will be her focus area and she will work on improving the quality of education in government colleges and schools in Bhopal.
