AAP's bizarre comment on farmer's suicide, says next time will ask Kejriwal to climb tree and save people
Kejriwal, too, accused the police of inaction and said it was an attempt to "sabotage" his party's rally.

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party leader Ashutosh on Wednesday made an insensitive comment on a farmer committing suicide at a rally in Delhi. He said the party workers are not trained to climb trees and so they failed to save the farmer and then defended Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, claiming that if he had gone to save the farmer there could have been a stampede.

Making a sarcastic comment over the incident he said, "This was Arvind Kejriwal's mistake. He should have got down from the stage. He made a mistake. Next time I will tell Kejriwal to get down and climb the tree and save people."

Blaming Delhi Police he said, "Police did not listen to our request. Police is trained for such situations. Police officials could have avoided the tragic incident." He also demanded an inquiry against Delhi Police.

Kejriwal, too, accused the police of inaction and said it was an attempt to "sabotage" his party's rally. He also taunted the media for not saving Singh.

The farmer, identified as Gajendra Singh, climbed a tree as top AAP leaders were present at the Jantar Mantar, near Parliament, and hanged himself with a piece of cloth. Even as some people climbed up to save him, the branch gave away and he fell.

Gajendra Singh, a resident of Nangal Jhamarwada village in Dausa, also left a suicide note stating that he had three children and had been disowned by his father due to crop damage after recent rains and hailstorm.

A purported suicide note was also recovered from the spot in which Gajendra Singh mentioned that he is a farmer and his crops have been destroyed. He has also written his family's contact number.
