Lucknow: The Yogi Adityanath-led Bhartiya Janata Party has decided to revamp the Ramlila Grounds in 10 district of Uttar Pradesh, amid the rising pitch for Ram temple.
While the government has not announced formally on Ram Mandir, it is pushing the agenda via other ways, in essence the installation of 221 metre statue of Lord Ram and now the makeover of Ramlila grounds in 10 districts of the state.
As per the orders issued by the culture department, the District Magistrates of Lucknow, Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Bareilly, Varanaso, Chitrakoot, Prayagraj, Agra, Saharanpur and Firozabad have been asked to identify the oldest Ramlila grounds in their districts and to submit a proposal in this regard.
A committee will be formed in this regard which will be headed by DM and will include ADM, SDM, three representatives of Ramlila grounds, district information officer, local tourism officer and a cultural department representative.
The order by cultural department on November 22 clearly states, “The Ramlila ground should be demarcated on the basis of revenue records, inputs from Ramlila committees and traditional usage of the space. Boundary walls of 6-8 feet should be constructed around the ground and decorated with murals which should identify the ground as a Ramlila Maidan in an artistic way.”
Also, the orders states that the state government will be issuing funds for the makeover of these 10 Ramlila grounds.
The order further adds that an entry gates for all the Ramlila grounds should be constructed and named after an area intrinsic to the life of Lord Ram, such as Ayodhya, Chitrakoot, Mithila, Janakpur and Panchvati. The walls of these Ramlila grounds will also be decorated with murals from Ramayan.
Along with this, toilets will also be constructed at these Ramlila grounds along with changing rooms and store rooms for convenience of the people. Transformers will also be installed for uninterrupted power supply, also continuous water supply will also be ensured.
