New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit on Tuesday accused BJP of making "unsubstantiated" allegations against her government and "distorting facts" to grab power in the assembly polls after remaining in the opposition for last 15 years.

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit on Tuesday accused BJP of making "unsubstantiated" allegations against her government and "distorting facts" to grab power in the assembly polls after remaining in the opposition for last 15 years.

She said BJP has been making "unsubstantiated" allegations to defame her government, which the people of the city will not tolerate. "The opposition party has been misleading people for electoral benefits. They are making unsubstantiated allegations for electoral gains," Dikshit said without making any specific reference at a press conference.

Senior Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely, however, made a direct attack on Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel for announcing that it will appoint an accountability commission to probe graft charges against Dikshit government if the party came to power. "We welcome the announcement. In fact, they should set up the commission right away so that various scams and financial bunglings in BJP-run municipal corporations could be probed. It will be a great relief for the people of the city as they are suffering because of corruption in the civic bodies," Lovely said.

Alleging massive corruption in Delhi government, Goel had on Sunday said BJP will set up an accountability commission to probe various alleged scams in Dikshit dispensation in the last 15 years if it was voted back to power in the December 4 assembly polls.

"The Accountability Commission will ensure that all those who have looted taxpayers' money during Congress regime are brought to the book. No one will be spared if they have indulged in any kind of corruption," Goel had said.

Goel's anouncement had come a day after Dikshit challenged the opposition to provide proof of corruption in her government or stop making baseless charges. In the press conference at Dikshit's official residence, also attended by senior Ministers Raj Kumar Chauhan and Harun Yusuf, Lovely charged Aam Admi Party with making "false promises" of bringing the Lokpal bill if it came to power.

"How can the Krantikari party bring Lokpal Bill as the subject comes under the purview of the Centre. The party does not have minimum administrative knowledge. It said they will call an assembly session at Ramlila Ground. How can the assembly be convened at Ramlila"? said Lovely.
