The Bharataiya Janata Party’s Rajya Sabha MP Jyotiraditya Scindia on Saturday hit out at the Congress welcoming a Hindu Mahasabha leader.
Stating that there is a difference in the grand old party’s talks and deeds, Scindia said the Congress has no values and principles.
The former royal family member, who had switched over from the Congress last year along with a number of MLAs leading to the fall of the Kamal Nath-led government in Madhya Pradesh, was in Gwalior on Saturday to take part in an event.
Regarding the upcoming Assembly elections in five states, the former Union minister said the BJP was ready to come out with flying colours.
Meanwhile, state Congress chief Kamal Nath is under fire from his own party leaders for bringing Hindu Mahasabha leader Babulal Chaurasiya, hailed as an admirer of Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin Nathuram Godse by many, into the party.
Leaders like former Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee chief Arun Yadav, ex-MP Meenakshi Natrarajan, former minister Subhas Sojatiya and MLA Lakshman Singh have slammed the party’s state head for allegedly going against Gandhi’s ideology.
Yadav, who has been at loggerheads with the party leadership, said the Congress worships Mahatma Gandhi’s ideas and not those of Godse’s. “Will the party now also welcome Pragya Thakur (Bhopal MP and an accused in the Malegaon blast case),” said the former Union minister.
Thakur has openly spoken in favour of Godse and called him a “true patriot”.
Taking a swipe at the Congress’ inner rifts, BJP leader and Medical Education Minister Vishwas Sarang said Nath should reply to party senior leaders like Yadav.
Nath is yet to speak on the issue after extending party membership to Chaurasiya on Thursday.
