Bangalore: The special Bangalore court hearing the Rs 66 crore disproportionate assets case has ruled that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa must make a personal appearance on November 22.
Jayalalithaa has sought exemption from appearing in the court personally.
Sources close to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister say that she may move an application seeking postponement of the hearing, an option given to her by the Supreme Court.
The disproportionate assets case involves the alleged accumulation of assets worth over Rs 66 crore by Jayalalithaa between 1991 and 1996.
The case proceedings were shifted out of Tamil Nadu by the apex court on her plea fearing that she might be denied a fair trial in the state then ruled by her arch rival DMK chief Karunanidhi, whom she accused of implicating her in a false case.
