Family ties help in politics, admits Rahul Gandhi
He asked students to join politics and contribute to nation building.

Jabalpur/Bhopal: Congress MP and party General Secretary Rahul Gandhi while addressing a group of students in Jabalpur on Monday said that people from political families have an advantage if they want to enter politics.

"There are three-four ways of entering politics. First, if one has money and power. Second, through family connections. I am an example of that. Third, if one knows somebody in politics. And fourth, by working hard for the people," said Rahul Gandhi while addressing students of Saint Aloysius College.

The 39-year-old Lok Sabha MP also called upon the students to join politics and contribute to nation building.

When some students said that they believed that there was no moral standards or values left in politics and good people were reluctant to come forwards, Rahul asked "Do I look corrupt or a politician with no values?"

He agreed with the students' standpoint that there were some corrupt politicians, musclemen and people with vested interests in politics.

Addressing a press conference in Bhopal he said that he had never asked for a separate state of Bundelkhand and was only interested in the region's development.

"I have never said that Bundelkhand should be a separate state. I had asked for the development of Bundelkhand. Bundelkhand had been badly handled by Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. It pains that we are sending money but that money does not reach the people of Bundelkhand in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh," he said.

Rahul Gandhi is on a two-day tour of Madhya Pradesh and has met students in Gwalior, Jabalpur, Sagar and Bhopal.
