Karnataka Govt Officer Ends Life, Exposes 'Scam' in Death Note, BJP Seeks Minister's Sacking
According to sources, P Chandrashekaran has written in the note about the alleged misuse of large amounts of funds in the Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation and also held some senior officers responsible for his death

A superintendent attached to the Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation has ended his life, leaving a suicide note that has put the state’s Congress government in a spot. 48-year-old P Chandrashekaran was found dead at his residence in Shivamogga on Sunday. He was working at the corporation’s office in Bengaluru.

According to sources, he has written in the note about the alleged misuse of large amounts of funds in the corporation and also held some senior officers responsible for his death. The deceased officer has accused his seniors of forcing him to open a parallel bank account to divert money from the corporation’s primary account.

“He has named three officers in the death note. The name of a lady officer in Union Bank, an officer in the accounts section in the corporation, and Padmanabha. We want justice. He was an honest man. He has given full details about the amounts and account numbers in the death note,” said Kavitha, Chandrashekaran’s wife.

The Bharatiya Janata Party is demanding the resignation of ST welfare minister B Nagendra. BJP leaders in Shivamogga have alleged that Chandrashekaran in his note has revealed that he received an oral order from the minister to transfer the amount of the corporation and stated that around Rs 87 crore was misappropriated.

“The Congress is a corrupt government; it can be seen every day. The government official has written a death note about transferring Rs 187 crore into another account. The money is being siphoned legally. It’s a shameless and unaccountable government. It should own up and get lost. The people are very intelligent, they don’t believe them anymore,” said BJP leader CN Ashwath Narayan.

The minister has conceded that Rs 87 crore out of a total Rs 187 crore had been transferred to an unauthorised account by the accused officers and added that action will be taken.

“The case has been handed over to the CID. Our CID officials have already reached Shivamogga. We’ll be investigating how the money was transferred. The investigation will take place in an impartial manner. If the MD or any other officials have been involved, we will take action. The MD says his sign has been forged. We have sent it to FSL. If it matches, we will take action,” said Nagendra. “This is not corruption. The amount has been misused. The amount has been transferred from one account to another and we have already recovered the amount. Rs 26 crore out of Rs 87 crore has been recovered. We will take action against the officials involved. We are working in a transparent manner. It is also a big mistake that it didn’t come to my notice.”
