Kerala Assembly Election Results: LDF Returns to Power
CPM headed LDF has won in 81 constituencies.

CPM headed Left Democratic Front (LDF) returned to power in Kerala on Thursday after it crossed the mid-way mark of 70+ seats required in the assembly.

Counting for the 140-member Kerala Assembly is underway. CPM headed LDF in Kerala has won more than 80 seats of the 140 Assembly constituencies while ruling Congress-led UDF won over 40 seats, according to early trends after the first round of counting.

CPM headed LDF has won in 88 constituencies while UDF has won 50 seats till last updates on counting came.

Excise Minister K Babu defeated by a margin of 4,467 votes by M Swaraj of CPM in Tripunithura constituency.

Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala (Congress) won from Haripad by a margin of 18,621 votes defeating P Prasad of CPI.

Kerala Health Minister VS Sivakumar (Congress) wins by 10,905 votes from Thiruvananthapuram central constituency defeating nearest rival Antony Raju (LDF).

Food Minister Anoop Jacob (Kerala Congress(J)-UDF) wins by a margin of 6195 votes against MJ Jacob (CPI-M-LDF) in Piravom constituency.

Culture and NORKA Minister KC Joseph (CONG-UDF) defeats K T Jose (CPI-LDF) in Irikkur constituency by a margin of 9647 votes.

LDF candidate Kadakampally Surendran won the Kazhakoottam constituency in Thiruvananthapuram district by a margin of 7347 votes against his nearest rival V Muraleedharan of BJP.

CPM veteran V S Achuthanandan establishes lead of over 10,000 votes over rival C Krishnakumar of NDA.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy is leading by around 6,884 votes in Puthupally over his nearest CPM rival Jaik P Thomas after first round of counting.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has also thrown its hat in the ring and is trying to win a few seats in the state. BJP is leading in a single seat according to early trends.
