New Delhi: External Affairs Minister SM Krishna has moved the Supreme Court, seeking quashing of the criminal complaint against him in the illegal mining case in Karnataka.

This came after the Karnataka High Court allowed the state police to probe charges against Krishna.

Krishna has been accused of illegally de-reserving large forest areas for mining in Bellary when he was the chief minister between 1999 and 2004.

Krishna is also alleged to have allowed 10 private companies to mine in the area, despite opposition from the then state forest minister and the secretary of the forest department.
