Lucknow: Samajwadi Party on Saturday celebrated its 25th birth anniversary with pomp and splendour in the presence of all the prominent members of Uttar Pradesh’s first family and leaders of Mahagathbandhan. After almost two weeks of internal squabbling between various factions led by UP CM Akhilesh Yadav and SP state Chief Shivpal Yadav, the family members tried putting their differences to rest, at least for the time being.
In an exclusive interview to CNN-News18, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav talks about his election campaign, development and SP’s prospects in the forthcoming elections. Q: Akhileshji you have already kicked off your campaign. This is the first time UP is seeing a CM using development as a calling card. Usually, agenda is based on caste. Do you think it is a formula which is now working in UP?
The rath aims at also informing people about our future plans.. to tell people about the work we have done, how it is progressing and what we are going to do in the future. I am confident the people will once again vote the SP into power.

It's possible that I'm able to do all this because of my youth. In the future, I think if a leader can do something alongside politics, then he can do it and must do it. It's part of politics.. if he gets to play he should. It's true that we might not have played with any administrators. Administrators also wonder why the government doesn’t play with themQ: So UP and SP are changing?
A: UP is constantly changing. The new generation is aspirational. They dream of great things and see a bright future for themselves. How will this change happen?
I think smartphone will make governance more efficient and reduce corruption. Today, this technology is spreading across the world. If we see this kind of environment in UP I think it is fantastic for the state, people will love it.
BJP will have to answer the people as to what they have done for them. BSP should also be able to say what they can offer other than the elephant and the stone. They only have the agenda where they build stone elephants and bleed the taxpayers' money.
