This General Assembly constituency has an estimated Scheduled Caste population of 37.44% and an estimated Scheduled Tribe population of 0%, according to the report of the Delimitation Commission, 2008. In 2012, Bikram Singh Majithia (E) of SAD emerged victorious in this seat beating Sukhjinder Raj Singh (Lali) of IND by a margin of 47,581 votes which was 41.28% of the total votes polled in the constituency. SAD had a vote share of 64.15% in the seat.
