The Gujarat CM will reportedly hold a rally in Assam first and then move to Tamil Nadu later in the day.

Modi's rally in Assam comes in the backdrop of the death of a north-eastern student whose issue the BJP leader had raised quite vehemently during his rally in Meerut recently.

Against the backdrop of complaints of harassment of people from Northeast in Delhi, the BJP's Prime

Ministerial candidate had on Saturday pitched for transferring outsourcing jobs to the region so that the youth from there need not leave their towns and villages.

Addressing a digital communication summit through video-conferencing, Modi had said, "Youngsters in the Northeastern states are generally tech-savvy with good command over English, making them suitable for digital outsourcing jobs from cities like Bangalore and Hyderabad in their own villages and towns."

Modi's rally in the southern states comes amidst his party's talks with potential allies Pattali Makal Katchi (PMK) and Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
