No question of joining hands with SP, BSP: Gadkari
Nitin Gadkari said farmers in UP were committing suicides due to "wrong" policies being pursued by the Centre.

Bhopal: BJP President Nitin Gadkari on Thursday said his party would not enter into a post-poll alliance with Bahujan Samaj Party or Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh if it does not get majority on its own.

"There is no question of any alliance taking place with either of these two parties," he said.

Meanwhile, Gadkari, who had come to Bhopal for an event, said Uma Bharti was doing "good work" in Uttar Pradesh.

Asked if he would campaign in Charkhari, the Assembly constituency from where Uma is contesting the UP assembly elections, Gadkari merely said he had campaigned in 55 constituencies and would continue with his programme.

Responding to queries on farmers' suicides, he said it was due to "wrong" policies being pursued by the Centre.

He pointed out that prices of chemical fertilisers had trebled in the last four years and were now also selling in black market.

He said farmers were committing suicides due to "poor" irrigation facilities and there has been a long-standing demand that irrigation be made a Central subject.
