Opposition cries foul as Rahul Gandhi visits universities
Opposition says Rahul can't meet students on university campuses.

New Delhi: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) is up in arms in Goa over Congress MP Rahul Gandhi's visits to university campuses.

Opposition parties say Rahul can't be allowed to meet students on university campuses and now Goa Governor has S S Sidhu has asked for a report on the Congress MP's political meetings at the Goa university campus.

Rahul's campus calling seems to have got the Opposition nervous.

Just a few days after the Devi Ahilyabai University Vice-Chancellor in Indore was served a showcause notice for allowing Rahul to hold a political meeting in the campus, comes huge protests in Goa by the BJP's student wing questioning Rahul's meetings with the students.

"They are jealous," says Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi about Opposition's protests.

Rahul has been making it a point to visit non-Congress ruled states in search of talent and during such visits he meets students in colleges, asking them to change the system by joining politics.

His subtle message is join the Congress.

In one such visit to Kanpur in 2009, Mayawati came down heavily on the college he was to visit denying him permission to hold a meeting there.

Sources say that Rahul is determined to go ahead with his trips to universities and his next trip is to Bihar just before the Assembly elections in the state.

The Congress has realised that more the protests greater the impact.

What's your reaction?
