New Delhi: Addressing scientists at a Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) function in new Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the role of the DRDO and said that it has a crucial stature today as the "nature of war has changed and technology plays a key role today."
"Are our scientists getting the opportunity to interface with Army personnel? The jawan will get a sense of security when he meets the "Rishi" who spent 15 years in a lab working on safety of a jawan's life," he said.
While speaking at the function, Modi also stressed on the need to finish work before time. "The biggest challenge that India faces today is meeting targets ahead the deadline," Modi said.
He added that the aim should be to achieve the set target before its assigned deadline. "If the world does something by 2020 we should try to do it by 2018," said Modi with strong conviction. He further emphasized on how the world is changing fast and with time the way of war has transformed.
Modi congratulated the award winners for their outstanding contribution in various areas of technology at the function.
