This General Assembly constituency has an estimated Scheduled Caste population of 24.42% and an estimated Scheduled Tribe population of 0.01%, according to the report of the Delimitation Commission, 2008. In 2012, Pramod Kumar of INC emerged victorious in this seat beating Hiramani Patel of BSP by a margin of 31,534 votes which was 20.9% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 49.4% in the seat.
