New Delhi: Pandemonium continued in Parliament on Wednesday after the Opposition MPs led by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members cornered the United Progressive Alliance Government over the lathicharge on its workers in New Delhi on Tuesday. Both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha were adjourned till noon but the Opposition MPs did not let the houses function when Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha resumed.
Lok Sabha had to be adjourned till 2 PM following ruckus over the lathicharge with BJP MPs shouted slogans in and demanding Home Minister P Chidambaram's resignation. Similar scenes were witnessed in the Rajya Sabha which was adjourned for the day.
The situations remained the same even after the Lok Sabha resumed forcing its adjournment for the day.
The Opposition MPs from the Shiv Sena and the Samajwadi Party also disrupted Question Hour in the Lok Sabha to protest against "police brutality" on farmers in Pune, and demanded Maharashtra government's dismissal.
BJP MPs supported by other National Democratic Alliance members shouted slogans, and disrupted proceedings over alleged police's manhandling of the BJP workers as soon as Speaker Meira Kumar finished with an obituary reference in the Lok Sabha.
BJP and Shiv Sena members walked into the well and shouted slogans against the Maharashtra government and lathicharge on BJP Yuva Morcha workers in New Delhi on Tuesday.
The members were holding placards that said "Dismiss the Maharashtra government which fired on farmers".
Three people, including a woman and child, were reportedly killed in Pune. BJP members, including its youth wing president Anurag Thakur, displayed newspaper clippings carrying reports of the lathicharge on its workers.
BJP Yuva Morcha workers clashed with the Delhi Police at Jantar Mantar on Tuesday when they were protesting against the Government's alleged apathy towards various scams.
In the Rajya Sabha, BJP members began shouting slogans against the police action even before Chairman Hamid Ansari could settle down.
As Ansari took up the Question Hour, BJP members trooped into the well shouting slogans demanding Home Minister P Chidambaram's resignation over the issue.
Ruling benches countered the slogan shouting by demanding that Question Hour be taken up.
