The fast-unto-death by TRS President K Chandrasekhara Rao entered the 11th day.

New Delhi: The Core Group of the Congress met in the Capital on Wednesday evening for a second time in the day to discuss the separate Telangana demand of TRS.

The Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh continued to be on the boil as massive protests demanding separate statehood and the fast-unto-death by TRS President K Chandrasekhara Rao entered the 11th day. Doctors said Rao was in a serious condition.

Sources reveal that the Congress leadership has agreed to the main demand of Rao. The Congress has reportedly asked Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah to table a resolution in the Andhra Assembly for a separate state of Telangana.

After the meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Home Minister P Chidambaram told reporters that "I have called Rosaiah for a meeting. We will decide after that."

The meeting, which was held in Parliament House, was also attended by Congress President Sonia Gandhi and senior ministers A K Antony, Chidambaram, Law Minister Veerappa Moily and Congress leader Ahmed Patel.

From the second meeting of the Core Group, Antony, Chidambaram and Moily drove straight to Gandhi's residence where Rosaiah was scheduled to meet.

Rosaiah told reporters that the decision on amalgamation or bifurcation has to be taken by the Centre by factoring all issues.

"I am going to meet the Congress President and I will apprise her of the situation in Andhra Pradesh," he said.

KCR's son KR Rama Rao spoke to CNN-IBN and said that his father will end his fast only if the Telangana resolution is tabled.

“We are willing to consider it positively. I think I will be able to convince my father on the Assembly resolution. What's happening in Telangana is a revolution. It’s not a protest that's happening. The Congress government must make an honest and sincere effort to resolve the issue,” he said.

Meanwhile, 16 Congress MPs belonging to both the Houses of Parliament met the Prime Minister and demanded constitution of a separate Telangana state.
