Won't Let UP Become Kashmir: BJP's Sangeet Som On Kairana 'Migration'
While Som is planning to hold the Nirbhay Yatra, Samajwadi Party leader Atul Pradhan will be holding a counter yatra titled Sadbhavana Yatra. Both the yatras are to begin from Meerut.

There is no end to politics over the alleged migration of Hindus from Kairana. Despite local administration denying permission, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Sangeet Som is adamant on holding a march to Kairana.

"I will stand with the people of Uttar Pradesh and fight for their rights. If people are migrating from Kairana, we will make all efforts to bring them back. We will not let UP become Kashmir," the defiant leader said.

Party MP Hukum Singh along with other BJP leaders have maintained that such a protest march, which is being called a Nirbhaya Yatra, should not be held as it may fan communal tensions in the area. However, Som said no order has been conveyed to him not to hold the protest.

"No one, either from the administration or the party has asked me not to hold the march. I will follow the orders of the party. The administration will do their work and we will do our work. I'm a BJP worker and I work in that capacity," he asserted.

"In a democracy, everyone has the right to keep forward their point and hold a march. We will work in accordance with the law," he added.

While Som is planning to hold the Nirbhaya Yatra, Samajwadi Party leader Atul Pradhan will be holding a counter yatra titled Sadbhavana Yatra. Both the yatras are to begin from Meerut.

Meanwhile, the Kairana district administration has finished the verification of the list of families given by BJP MP Hukum Singh which allegedly fled Kairana due to communal tensions.

As per the district administration report, 67 of the 346 families left Kairana 10 years ago and 179 families left the place 4-5 years ago. 73 people who left the town over last 3 years have migrated due to personal reasons. 16 of those mentioned in the list are already dead and families of 3 of them still live in Kairana.

Seven names have appeared twice in the list given by Hukum Singh.
