Lucknow: The central government has issued a whooping Rs 250 crore for the construction of Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram Airport in Ayodhya. Thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the sanction, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday tweeted, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s heartfelt gratitude and thanks to Union Minister Hardeep Puri for the Rs 250 crore provided by the Central Government for the construction of the under construction Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram Airport in Ayodhya, the holy city of Lord Ram.”
On Monday, the Yogi government announced in the state budget (2021-2022) that the upcoming airport in Ayodhya would be named ‘Maryada Purushottam Shriram Airport’. A day later, the state government got a resolution in this regard passed in the state assembly. For this, a provision of Rs 101 crore has been made.
The state government has also announced plans to build four international airports in Lucknow, Varanasi, Kushinagar and Gautam Buddha Nagar. The development of Aligarh, Azamgarh, Moradabad and Shravasti airports is almost complete. The construction at Chitrakoot and Sonbhadra is likely to get completed by March.
“The Civil Aviation Secretary Pradeep Singh Karola has also nominated the delegation. This team will periodically inspect the airport,” said Anuj Jha, Ayodhya District Magistrate.
The Maryada Purushottam Lord Shri Ram Airport is the dream project of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. This will be the fifth international airport in Uttar Pradesh. It will have all facilities of international standard and commercial operations will begin as soon as the airport is built.
The Maryada Purushottam Bhagwan Shri Ram Airport is proposed in 600 acres area. Its runway will be two kilometres long in which aircrafts like ATR will also be able to land. With this, Ayodhya is expected to make a dent on the international tourism map.
