Rajahmundry: Several YSR Congress legislators and supporters on Monday staged a 'dharna' in front of District Collectarate here demanding the purchase of paddy from the farmers.
They demanded that paddy be bought by providing minimum support price (MSP)) to the farmers.
Speaking on the occasion, YSR Congress district convener Kudipudi Chittabbai said the Congress Government led by N Kiran Kumar Reddy was "playing games" with the lives of lakhs of farmers in the state.
YSR Congress organised sit-ins on the issue in other parts of the state also.
Speaking in Visakhapatnam, District Convener of the YSR Congress, Konathala Ramakrishna, alleged that the Kiran Reddy Government had neglected the agriculture sector and failed to protect the interests of the farmers who were facing several problems due to lack of MSP for their produce.
