PlayStation 5 gamers might soon be able to stream games directly to X (formerly known as Twitter), possibly through an official app, as a recent exchange between Elon Musk and a user suggests.
Taking it to X, user @AlexJonesMW3, replying to Elon Musk’s Diablo gameplay video, requested if X could launch a dedicated streaming app for the PS5. “I’d gladly pay whatever price I have to pay to be able to stream directly from my PS5 to @X,” the user said. He also asked Musk if he could get in touch with somebody at PlayStation.
To this, Musk replied, “Yup, we’re working on it.”

This suggests that X could be working on bringing native support for PS5 game streaming. However, it must be noted that earlier this year, Sony dropped support for users to directly share their gameplay and photos on X. “As of November 13, 2023, integration with X (formerly known as Twitter) will no longer function on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 consoles,” Sony said back in November. Post this, users could not view any content published on X on PS5/PS4 and also lost the ability to post and view content, trophies, and other gameplay-related activities on X.
For now, users need to rely on platforms such as Twitch to stream their PS5 games. But if Elon Musk’s indication materialises, it would open up more possibilities for gamers to stream directly on X. And now that X allows content monetisation, it may even allow them to earn money if they are subscribed to X Premium, and meet the eligibility criteria.
