Microsoft is aiming to add the ability to capture and share the work done on the Surface devices through the use of a digital pen with its latest acquisition.

New Delhi: Microsoft has acquired pen technology that has been used in the Surface Pro 3 and Surface 3 tablets from Israel-based N-trig.

The company holds the patent for the digital stylus and writing technology tech and is the supplier of the pen input technologies used by Microsoft and its OEM partners.

Microsoft’s official blog explains the logic behind the acquisition, which is adding the ability to capture and share the work done on the Surface devices through the use of a digital pen.

A Tech Crunch report notes that the acquisition could set the stage for a coming clash surrounding more advanced input for touch-based devices.

Speculations have indicated that Apple could be adding an advanced stylus to its future iPad Pro device, while its new Force Touch and Taptic tech promises to bring additional pressure-sensitive input options to future iOS devices.
