OnePlus is back in the news for concerning reasons. Earlier the company had revised its free display replacement program to include newer models like the OnePlus 10 Pro and OnePlus 11. But now some of these units are facing the dreaded dead motherboard issue for which the users are being asked big money.
Reports this week have cited multiple complaints where OnePlus units have gone kaput and the company has quoted them a massive repair bill, much higher than the actual value of their units.
OnePlus Issues Persist
OnePlus 9 and 10 Pro users are the biggest victim of the issue and they claim to be facing this problem after downloading a software update. The person was then told by the OnePlus service repair team that changing the dead motherboard would cost them Rs 42,000 which is almost the price of a new OnePlus 10 Pro unit.
The aggrieved user has even shared the complaint via the OnePlus Community Forum where he has narrated the ordeal and what the company wants him to do with the dead unit. The person feels that the brand is not offering reasonable support for these issues, which could become a concern in the long run as more people might be discouraged from buying OnePlus phones in the country.
OnePlus has not officially shared any statement or assurance for these issues but if the dead unit problem becomes widespread, the brand will have no choice but to intervene and provide support that doesn’t cost them big bucks. The company has previously relented to public pressure and offered screen replacements free of cost for the alleged green line issue caused by earlier software updates.
If the brand feels the new dead motherboard is also being caused by such updates, it is likely to offer extended support for the affected devices, no matter how many consumers face it. Solving these issues and working well with retailers has been on the OnePlus to-do list in 2024 and it is vital that it sorts all of them out at the earliest.
