This Company Says Its Next Phone Will Not Have Bloatware And Show Ads
iQOO 12 is launching in India next month and it will be the first phone with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and non-Pixel phone with Android 14 out of the box in the country.

More smartphone brands are realising the need to remove bloatware from their phones and iQOO will be the latest to join the ranks by ditching these irritants from its next device launching in December. iQOO 12 will come without apps like Hot Apps that have been the catalyst for ads on previous iQOO devices.

For many years people have contended with ads and bloatware on phones that cost as much as Rs 20,000 but these days you see ads in phones that cost around a lakh which is never a good look on the company doing these things.

iQOO wants to show that it is listening to customers and removing these apps is a good move. But that’s not all, iQOO 12 will also get multiple OS updates, three to be precise and a similar timeline for security updates.

These updates come a few days after iQOO confirmed that its next flagship phone launching in India on December 12 will come with Android 14-based Funtouch OS version out of the box.

As of now, only the Google Pixel 8 series have launched with the new Android version with others only offering the version through an OTA update. OnePlus has committed extra years of OS updates to its new models, while Google has promised 7 years of OS and security support for the Pixel 8 series launched this year.

iQOO 12 will also be the first phone in the country to launch with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, something that will be available with the OnePlus 12 and Xiaomi 14 series models in early 2024. Realme is a major culprit for pushing bloatware and ads, so we’re hoping that other brands follow iQOO in changing these features and removing them, especially on their high-end phones.
