Hina Khan is celebrating her birthday today, October 2. She is one of the prominent names in the television industry. The actress began her showbiz journey by auditioning for the singing reality show Indian Idol in 2008 and even secured a place in the Top 30. However, Hina is mostly remembered for her portrayal of Akshara in the TV serial Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai.

In her career spanning over a decade and a half, the actress has not only proven her versatility on-screen but has also turned out to be an inspiration as she battles with cancer. YEH RISHTA KYA KEHLATA HAI (2009-2016)

Hina Khan rose to fame with her role in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, the longest-running Indian soap opera. For eight years, she played Akshara Singhania, a loving wife, dutiful daughter-in-law, and caring mother in the Rajan Shahi-produced TV serial. Hina quit the show in 2016. YRKKH also led her to become one of the highest-paid actresses in the Indian television industry from 2013 to 2019.

BIGG BOSS 11 (2017)

After YRKKH, Hina participated in the reality TV show Bigg Boss 11. During her stint in the show, the actress won the hearts of her fans with her outspoken nature and strong opinions. Although she did not win the trophy and managed to be the first runner-up, she remains one of the most popular contestants on the reality show.

KASAUTII ZINDAGII KAY (2019)

Deviating from her usual meek roles, Hina Khan played the antagonist, Komolika, in Kasautii Zindagii Kay. HACKED (2020)

Hina Khan made her Bollywood debut in 2020 with the psychological thriller Hacked, directed by Vikram Bhatt and starring Rohan Shah and Mohit Malhotra. The film revolves around a 19-year-old young boy (Rohan) who falls in love with a much older neighbour (Hina) and hacks into her life when she rejects her proposal.

UNLOCK (2020)

Hina starred alongside Kushal Tandon in the thriller Unlock. The actress played Suhani, who falls prey to the dark web while having a crush on her flatmate’s boyfriend, Amar, played by Tandon. She finds a way to get the man of her dreams, but it involves completing three dark and twisty tasks.

LINES (2021)

Lines is a cross-border love story featuring a powerful ending. In the film, co-starring Rishi Bhutani and Farida Jalal, Hina plays the role of Nazia, an Indian girl married to a Pakistani man, Nabeel (Bhutani). Lines even took the actress to the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.

HINA KHAN’S CANCER DIAGNOSIS

On June 28, Hina revealed that she was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer. Ever since her announcement, the actress has determined not to let the illness dictate over her. Every now and then, she shares updates with her fans on her cancer treatment while being vocal about the emotional, physical and mental tolls it takes.

Hina Khan got to know about her cancer diagnosis while she was attending an awards show. She attended the event and then headed straight to the hospital for her first chemo, making a conscious choice of normalising the challenges.

The YRKKH actress proudly flaunted the scars caused by her cancer treatment. She posted pictures wearing those bravely and wrote, “What do you see in this Picture? The Scars on my body or the Hope in my Eyes?”

Despite going through such a challenging phase in her life, the actress hasn’t let it overpower her. Instead, she has remained resilient and chosen to work, leaving her fans impressed with her courageous battle against cancer.

Hina once revealed through her Instagram post that she was unable to eat properly due to mucositis. Nevertheless, she chose to flaunt her million-dollar smile and face the challenges bravely.
