Sustaining a strong relationship with your loved ones is always a task. There are many cases when you risk the person on the other end to be someone you believe. Recently, one such story of a person is making rounds on social media. A 24-year-old recently found out that he has been dating his sister for two years.
He shared about creating an NSFW (not safe for work) account on X, previously known as Twitter, during the lockdown. He explained on Reddit, “I made sure to keep this separate from my real life, so I never intended to reveal my face”. Following around a week of posting and interacting with different accounts, he was invited to join a group chat with approximately 12 members.
The group members exchanged nude photographs and sought feedback. He expressed satisfaction with the compliments received for his physique. Later, he received a direct message from one of the people in the group after sharing some explicit pictures.
The message was from a group member, Bella, aged 23. She sent a picture with his name written on her chest. They started with friendly chats but it quickly turned into sexting and sharing videos. This was followed for a month before they developed genuine feelings for each other.
“We both were active on Twitter and communicated with others as well. But still, we found we had a lot in common. We shared interests in games and shows, and she had a passion for plants and pink colour,” he said.
The duo were connected for two years and used to send pictures and messages. They labelled it as e-dating, which means dating exclusively online. But things started to change when his parents planned a family trip to Niagara Falls after the lockdowns.
“I got a message from Bella saying she’d be on vacation soon and might not have good internet during her drive. I thought it was a good chance because I’d also be offline sometimes on my trip. So, we sent each other explicit photos to keep busy while we were away. Then, I decided to nap for the rest of the trip,” the man added.
When the man entered his sister’s bathroom, he was shocked to find it familiar- it was the same as the backdrop in the pictures his e-dating partner had sent. Shocked, he asked his sister if she had a roommate who might have been using the same bathroom.
However, she said that she lived alone. He was unsure about dealing with this situation. So, he sought advice from social media. One user commented, “Keep it to yourself! Call it an e-relationship. Say you met someone else and started dating them”. Another user wrote, “It’s best to tell her because she’ll eventually find out.”
