Curly Tales Founder Kamiya Jani Faces Backlash For Calling Idli-Chicken Curry A 'Weird Combination'
Curly Tales host Kamiya Jani faced criticism after referring to idli-chicken curry as a “weird combination” and eating the dish with a spoon.

Kamiya Jani, founder and host of Curly Tales, faced backlash after calling idli and chicken curry a “weird combination” during an interview with Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor. Kamiya Jani, who often shares food and travel recommendations, was surprised when Janhvi offered her the dish. The reaction sparked criticism, with many questioning her credibility as a travel influencer. Additionally, a section of viewers were taken aback when Jani used spoons instead of hands to eat the idli. When Janhvi suggested eating the idli traditionally without a spoon, Kamiya Jani admitted she didn’t know how to eat it in the traditional way.

The video begins with Janhvi saying, “Chicken curry which you actually should have with the Idli. You have to try. It’s very good.” Jani, in confusion, asked, “Wait, what? Chicken curry with idli? What is this combination?” Speaking with the audience, the host added, “I don’t know how many of you have actually tried idli with chicken curry. I’m very nervous to try this.”

Later, when Janhvi Kapoor suggested eating the idli with her hands, Kamiya Jani responded, “Idli hath se? I don’t know how to eat idli with hands.” After taking her first bite, the Curly Tales host remarked, “This actually tastes good.” When Janhvi asked, “Why are you surprised?” the host concluded the video by saying, “Guys, have you all tried idli with chicken curry? I think it’s a weird combination, but it tastes good.”

Soon after the video was shared by Curly Tales, it started circulating on other platforms and an X user sharing the clip wrote, “Born in India, introduces herself as a travel influencer and acts like a white person. If she ever comes in front of me, I’ll eat pasta with my hands just to irritate her. Stop being so pretentious, please.”

Reacting to the post, a user joked, “I have seen few people eating dosa with fork and knife. It irritates me to core.”

Another shared, “Idli with chicken/mutton curry is a famous combination in south Indian non vegetarians. How can a travel influencer not know that?”

“Anchor came from another planet,” a comment read.

Another mentioned, “At least Janhvi Kapoor eating with her hands.”

An individual shared, “In south India Every Sunday we eat Idli or dosa with chicken and mutton curry.”

One more added, “Sridevi ji raised Janhvi in the right way.”

Since the video was shared on X, it has garnered over 9 lakh views.
