India’s Sarabjot Singh, along with Manu Bhaker, scripted history in the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024 on Tuesday. The Indian duo got the better of South Korea’s Wonho Lee and Ye Jin Oh in the bronze medal playoff match in the 10 m air pistol mixed team event. The Indian unit clinched victory by a convincing margin of 16-10. Following his memorable Olympic triumph, Sarabjot disclosed the conversation he had with his mother. Speaking to the news agency IANS, the 22-year-old recalled, “I spoke to my mother and she said, ‘Mai busy hun, baad me baat karna mere se, [Talk to me later, I am busy].’”
“My journey started when I was very young and this medal is very good for me but I am still not satisfied with my performance as I feel I faced a lot of technique issues this time, but I will do even better in 2028,” added Sarabjot Singh, who comes from a farming family.

Hailing from Ambala, located in the state of Haryana, Sarabjot Singh had to deal with a difficult phase having failed to clinch a medal in the individual competition, a couple of days back. Sarabjot had registered a ninth-place finish in the Qualification Round of the men’s 10m Air Pistol Individual event on Saturday, failing to secure a berth in the final round. “I’m feeling good, the game was very tough and there was a lot of pressure, I am very happy,” he said after winning a medal in the mixed team event.

The Koreans aggregated 20.5 to take the opening round and open a 2-0 lead. But the Indian side scripted a resounding comeback to take their tally to 8-2. They eventually won the fixture 16-10.
