‘Love Is in The Air But You Don’t Care’: Blinkit’s 'Single Mode' For Valentine’s Week Is Epic
The delivery app Blinkit has introduced a ‘Single Mode’ feature that curates products for individuals who haven’t met their better half yet.

February is here, and with that, companies are whipping up creative ideas around Valentine’s Day. While the food industry indulges in introducing lucrative dishes to add a touch of culinary romance to the occasion for couples, how can the innovative minds at Blinkit not ride the trendy train and chip in something out-of -the-box? As love is in the air, Zomato-owned instant delivery grocery mart BlinkIt has come up with a mind-boggling idea that has taken the internet by storm. No wonder it is giving users a good belly laugh.

Blinkit has introduced a ‘Single Mode’ feature that curates products for individuals who haven’t met with their better half yet. Under this initiative, users can switch to ‘Single Mode’ within the app through a button or icon. Once activated, it displays a handpicked assortment of products suitable for single-person needs.

This includes items for: Partying with friends (Snacks, drinks, party supplies), Binge-watching (Movie snacks, ice cream, comfort food), Self-care (Bath products, healthy snacks, face masks), also a Gifting corner (Jewelry, books and stationaries, chocolates and gadgets).

Other than this, what grabbed the attention of many was a portion under the ‘Plans for One’ section that had an option titled, ‘Pray for a good partner’ with pooja items available in it.

When the ‘Single Mode’ is turned off, sections such as flowers, chocolates, mugs, soft toys, cards, gifting corner (fragrances, photo frame, bouquets, premium jewellery, gadgets), Get date ready (lip care and cosmetics, eye makeup, nail paints, skin care) and sexual wellness products come on display for couples to celebrate the week of love. The app also has a feature to ‘Plan a Date’ (Road trip, movie night, cook a meal) with your special one.

Meanwhile, the delivery app saw a spike in orders around Valentine’s Day, with the company’s CEO Albinder Dhindsa saying that they had sold more roses on Rose Day than previous year. Furthermore, the Zomato-owned instant delivery grocery mart CEO believed that there would be a bigger peak in the evening.

Dhindsa went on to say that 20 percent of all orders placed have been through its ‘Order for Someone Else’ flow. Expressing the joy of delivering record-breaking chocolates and roses, he stated, “Love that we are able to help so many folks send a valentine’s gift today.”

What a smart move by the instant delivery grocery mart app, isn’t it?

What's your reaction?
